Providence Counseling & Training

“A Little Less Crazy and a Little Less Alone”

Ray Ball, LCMHC, created Providence Counseling & Training, Inc in 2006 in order to offer professional counseling to individuals, couples and groups on the Providence Presbyterian Church campus. He has been offering counseling services in Australia and America since 1996. He has been called the “Simon Cowell” of Christian Counseling in Charlotte.

C Bentley Ball, LCMHC, joined him in 2017 after starting to offer psychotherapeutic services in Charlotte in 2007 after concentrating on co raising their four children.

We are thrilled to help men and women who have been sexually harmed in childhood begin or continue to unpack the wounds and whatever implications this particular injury is having in their personal or professional life now. We met while getting their initial training under Drs Larry Crabb and Dan Allender in the early 90’s and have been faithful to persevere in attempting to look at the harm that people can and do to each other without flinching.

Our combined dream is to create an emotional space for men and women to feel “a little less crazy and a little less alone”.

Kristen Marshman (she/her), MA., NCC, LMFTA, LCMHCA
*Under supervision of Michelle McDevitt-Askew, MA, NCLMFT, NCLCMHCS

Hi! I'm Kristen. I am honored to be entering into the profession of helping people find healing, peace and wholeness in this ever changing life. I graduated May, 2023 with my Masters in Clinical and Mental health Counseling with a Master's Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor. In the State of North Carolina, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and a Licensed Clinical and Mental Health Counselor Associate.

I view people holistically, and believe in complete mind, body, soul health. I believe the family system contributes to each individual person and how they experience life. I believe at the core of our being, we long to be deeply known and loved. I desire to help clients discover what it means for them to be deeply known and loved and how to cultivate that in relationships. I desire to help people uncover the root of their wounds, know themselves more deeply, restore relationships, and live a more authentic life. Therapy is an opportunity to help clients slow down and listen to what their bodies and heart tell them, integrating the many facets of their being.

I believe God is present in the space that I sit with my clients. I believe an individual's spirituality shapes their worldview and the process of healing. I am a wife, and mother. I am passionate about healthy individuals, marriages and families, and desire to see people and relationships step into fuller versions of themselves.
